Code 
Enter new numeric codes to be established.

Description 
Enter descriptive text to be attached to the code number just entered.

Project 
Enter the appropriate project related to specific code entered.

Things You Should Know

• Element codes are not required for routine use of GMS-RLSS software nor the production of agencywide journal entries. 
• If you also use GMS Accounting and Financial Reporting Software, elements may be established related to specific projects. If it is decided to create journal entries showing general ledger accounts related to specific funds, elements may become a component of those journal entries. 
• Enter element codes as they are already established within your agency’s GMS Accounting and Financial Reporting software. 
• Before creating a new Element Code, you must create a Project number to be associated with this element. The Project number is created using the GL Code screen.
